Yes they did, they missed it by about 5 days, We had PERFECT weather the following week for about 4 days, completely dry and the trails we moist but tacky! It usually happens every February we get about 5 to 7 days of the best / perfect riding weather!
Oh and the answer to the question about the trees being numbered...
The forest that the trails are located on is an experimental forest, Oregon State university has been following different trees and their growth progress for a VERY long time, they have been doing that ever since the forest was donated by a private citizen.
There's lots of interesting things about Mt Brown and Black Rock that all came together to make it possible to improve the trails to the acclaim we now get! It is a special place for sure!

Hey Margus,
Good Article, and some great shots, glad you guys had a good time out on the trails, some good stories are always to be had when ripping up the Black Rock Trails (ever get the chance ask Romanuik about his Boondocks story when the boys of DropIn came through)!
Got to say though as you mention at just about the end of the series the Falls City Residences really have stepped up to support the trails and trails builders. You won't find a friendlier crew then everyone there at Home Town Grocery there in Falls City; Nils supports the trail builders and volunteers, fixing up lunches on some of our organized work days to making sure the store is stocked with your favorite energy drink.
People sometimes think Black Rock is this mythical place but really it's just a group of riders that love providing the best trails we can!
So as you head through Dallas and Falls City be sure to waive at those locals, they help us keep the trails open for all of us : )
